Waterton Canyon is currently closed on weekdays from Monday, April 28, through Friday, May 9, 2025, for Denver Water’s annual dust mitigation project. During this period, both the canyon and its parking lot are inaccessible. However, the canyon will remain open for recreational use on the weekend of May 3–4.
This maintenance work aims to reduce dust and enhance the experience for hikers, bikers, and runners throughout the summer. As Waterton Canyon is a working facility, such closures are necessary to ensure public safety during operations and maintenance projects.
For those planning to access the Colorado Trail during the closure, it’s recommended to use alternative trailheads.
